I recorded an about me video for you because I believe in establishing authenticity from the get-go.

What I believe in

The convictions that shape how I build, lead, and grow.

Routine and structure representing consistency

Consistency

I believe in routine, in standard, in structure. I believe consistency is the bridge between intention and achievement, for “without commitment… you will never start; but more importantly — without consistency, you will never finish.”

The art of polishing and iterating toward excellence

Refinement

I believe in the art of beginning imperfectly, then shaping, sharpening, and elevating for the entire pursuit of excellence. As Grammarly preaches: “To err is human; to edit, divine.”

Freedom, openness, and the presence of choice

Liberty

I believe in the freedom to create and to become for liberty is not the absence of restraint but the presence of choice. I believe in living authentically, in shaping the path one’s own believes in, and in honoring the responsibility that freedom demands. As Albert Camus puts it: “Freedom is nothing else but a chance to be better.”

Rising repeatedly despite failing, representing courage

Courage

I believe just about anything starts with courage: the courage to dream, the courage to put in the work, and the courage to rise repeatedly despite failing. Just like William Faulkner: “You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore.”

Humility, generosity, and deep gratitude

Gratitude

I believe that gratitude is the strongest indicator of true character and fulfillment. It is the measure of how deeply we see, how humbly we receive, and how generously we give. Most truly, Cicero: “Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.”

Who is Bon

(fair warning β€” I like competitions a little too much)

Young Bon growing up in the Philippines

I grew up in a small province in the Philippines,

schooling across Luzon. Moving around taught me to adapt quickly and ask better questions β€” a habit that shaped everything about how I learn. I was always the kid pulling things apart to figure out how they worked.

Bon competing or holding trophies from academic competitions

"Mastery is a beautiful byproduct of discipline and dedication."

Competition became my workshop.

Spelling bees, MTAP, chess β€” I competed in everything from school to national levels. Every loss was an iteration: analyze, improve, try again. That discipline now shows up in how I polish features and ship work that matters.

Then I discovered I could build things for other people.

In high school, I made a game that hit 80–140 daily concurrent players worldwide. I led student organizations, ran for student government, and learned that work made with people matters more than work made alone.

Why I do this

I'm driven by growth β€”
learning when to bravely lose sight of the shore,
and patient enough to build it back up.

Progress over perfection, always.

If you've read this far,
we'd probably get along.

I'm always up for conversations about craft, tech, and growth.
Say hi β€” I don't bite.
